Parent Tips for Math
Math Activities for Home
1. Use household objects, such as cheerios, pennies, blocks, to help your child with counting. Set out a group of objects and have your child tell you how many. Or, tell your child a number, and have him/her show that number using the objects (ex. "Can you show me three cheerios?")
2. Have your child help when cooking meals (ex. "Can you hand me two eggs?")
3. Use household objects to help your child compare amounts. (ex. Set out five red blocks and two blue blocks. Ask your child which set of blocks is the most/least.)
4. Show numbers using your fingers and have your child determine what number you are showing.
